KHATAN EKH National Dance and Song Ensemble |

The national song and dance ensemble "Khatan Ekh" was established at the "Discover Mongolia" tourist center with 21 artistes in the spring of 2006. This ensemble introduces its performance consisting of wonderful kinds of Mongolian traditional art such as long song, throat singing (unusual traditional vocal technique), eulogy, contortion, national dance, morin khuur (horse headed fiddle) and other national instruments.

Naadam (Three manly games) that is how Mongols call one of two largest national holidays. The name of the festival means competition, sports. Indeed, it is a true test of manhood in such traditional games as horse racing, archery and wrestling. The wrestling enjoys special popularity comparable to that of baseball in the United States or sumo wrestling in Japan. The festival usually takes place in mid-summer, during a brief period between spring and autumn seasonal jobs. |

In Mongolia as in other regions of Central Asia a diverse set of Buddhist traditions have been cultivated by the Buddhist faithful. Among these traditions, perhaps some of the most important customs are those associated with Tibetan Tantric Buddhism, and more specifically, a particular symbol known as the "Kalachakra, Wheel of Time". The "Kalachakra" "Wheel of Time" is a "Mandla"; a Buddhist symbol that has a round, perfectly shaped symmetrical form. It is divided into four separate sections; each of them contributing to a single unitary shape. |

The eastern part of Ikh Khuree is called Zuun Khuree and the western part was called Gandan or Gandantegchinlen. The first Gandantegchinlen monastery was built in 1809 on the Dalkh hills, but with the different name of Shar sum (literally Yellow Monastery). |
