Soil wall, one of several historical places as “Chinggis zam”, Chinggis road” and “Chinggis wall” is located from the right of the old center of “Bayan Adarga” sum, Khentii Aimag, to the hill “Khuurai”, through “Nariin” valley behind the “Saikhan” mountain until the lake “Sain Tsagaan”, through “Ulz” high hill in Norovlin sum, “Khermiin Khudag” (“wall’s well”) in Bayandun sum, Dornod Aimag, and through the territory of “Tsagaan Ovoo”, “Sergelen”, “Gurvan Zagal” sum until China’s border. Its length is 500-600km.

There are a lot of small-sized, square, soil walls which are assumed that guards sat down on it in front of the wall. For instance, those are “Dorvoljin Buudal” “wall of Ulz high hill slope”, “ Mogoin Adgiin Kherem”, Ogoomriin Kherem”, “Delgerekhiin Tal”, “Bayanbulgiin Kherem” behind the hill station of “Saikhan” valley. The settlers say that the distances between those walls are approximately one day or half day far.

Distances between some of them are 8-12km long. Despite not found any sign left behind in the small-sized walls, some pieces of broken potteries are found from some walls. It is said that there are a lot of walls like those. The shape of the other walls, one day far, is square, while the shape of the other walls, a half day far, is triangle.

“Chinggis wall road” in the eastern Mongolia

There are so long, many walls in the southern Mongolia through the territories of Nomgon in Ovorkhangai, Khurmen, Bayandalai and Noyon sums. The researchers suppose that those soil walls were built for the frontier of any ancient tribes. Kh.Perlee (Dr.) wrote “that is “Khurua Iurkha”, one of the four inaccurate decisions, which was made by Ugudei Khaan (1228-1241) to prevent not to lose antelope to the other tribes.

In comparison, some Chinese researchers guess it to relate to the Golden Empire of Zurchid and Japanese supposes to the Liao, however, it has not been studied precisely yet. These wall roads were constructed by Chinggis Khaan to leave for a long trip with his daughter in law. They went separately along two sides of walls because the daughter in law of Khaan wasn’t allowed to be seen by him.
